Course Overview

The 1-year ATD (Art Teacher Diploma) course aims to empower educators with the skills and knowledge to lead and develop comprehensive school-level art programs. It focuses on building a strong foundation in art theory and practice, cultivating effective teaching methods, and fostering creativity in students. Upon completion, participants will be adept at tailoring instruction to individual student needs and promoting artistic talent in the classroom.

Module 1: Understanding the Fundamentals of Visual Art
  • Explore space, shape, volume, and proportions
  • Master rendering techniques for light, shadow, color, and texture
  • Understand motion, including time, speed, gravity, and inertia
  • Develop narrative skills for creating story plots and characters' archetypes
  • Gain expertise in perspective drawing, including One-Point, Two-Point, Three-Point, and Aerial perspective
  • Learn the basics of color theory with the Color Wheel
Module 2: Portrait Study
  • Study facial features in detail
  • Understand face proportions from various angles
  • Explore different facial expressions
  • Develop portraits using the Block-In Method
Module 3: Life Drawing Study
  • Fundamental understanding of human anatomy.
  • Master basic body proportions drawing.
Module 4: Composition Study
  • Experiment with memory, imaginary, and man-made objects in compositions
  • Explore nature through tree and plant studies.
  • Delve into landscape drawing.
Module 5: 2D Design & Festival Decorative Design
  • Introduction to 2D design principles.
  • Explore decorative design concepts suitable for festivals and occasions.
Module 6: Work Experience
  • Introduction to Clay Modeling.
  • Develop skills in Paper Craft Making.
  • Blackboard Drawing Study.
Module 7: Creative Drawing and Composition Ideas
  • Incorporate alphabets, letters, and numbers into artistic compositions.
  • Study animals, birds, nature, fruits, vegetables, foods, sea animals, vehicles, and daily use of man-made objects.
Module 8: Theory of Art Education and Child Art)
  • Gain theoretical knowledge of art education and its relevance to child art.
Module 9: Teaching Practice
  • Create a teaching file with 10 lesson plans.
  • Practical teacher training practice with A3-sized teaching aids.
  • Conduct 40 to 45-minute lessons for students from Ist to Vth standard.
Module 10: Indian Art History in Brief
  • Explore a concise overview of Indian art history, spanning various periods and styles.
Module 11: Mediums and Techniques
  • Study various artistic mediums and techniques, including graphite, charcoal, soft pastels, oil paste, coffee techniques, hatching, doodling, scribbling, pen and ink, watercolors, poster colors, and mixed media.
  • Introduction to acrylic color painting.

  • Teaching file, A4 size file, ruled and unruled sheets, A4 OHP plain transparent sheets, and 5-color pastel sheets for mounting artworks.
  • Graphite pencils (shading pencil set), artist eraser, A3 size drawing notebook (140 gsm), newsprint sheets for practice sketching, masking tape.
  • Artist watercolor tube set, palette, rags, paper towels, container or jar, artist synthetic round brush set, old newspapers.
  • Charcoal compressed sticks and blending sticks, poster colors, and coffee powder.
  • Artist acrylic color tube set, palette, rags, paper towels, container or jar, artist synthetic round and flat brush set, and old newspapers.
  • Paper craft supplies: A4 size colored pastel sheets, scissors, glue.
  • Ceramic and natural modeling clay.
